Dayon! review
A focused free option for attended desktop support across Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Dayon! is a free, open-source remote assistance application for helping family and friends with desktop problems. It runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux and separates the assistant and assisted roles within one package. Connections use tokens, while the assistant can view the remote desktop, enable control, transfer text, files, and graphics through the clipboard, and capture screenshots on the assisted computer. Portable quick-launch versions are also available for some platforms.
Its strongest fit is straightforward attended support. TLS 1.3 encrypted communication protects connections, while automatic port forwarding and NAT traversal support can simplify connectivity across networks. Compressed and cached screen transmission is designed for lower-bandwidth use, and the multilingual interface broadens accessibility. Jitsi is listed as an integration, although Dayon! remains primarily a focused desktop assistance application rather than a broad remote-support ecosystem. Users who need occasional help sessions across common desktop operating systems should find its feature set well aligned with that task.
Dayon! is less suitable for teams that require unattended device access, session recording, mobile applications, or deeper management features. The attended-only model keeps its purpose clear but limits ongoing administration and remote maintenance. It is a sensible choice for free, open-source assistance between people who can participate in a session; organizations seeking persistent access, broader fleet management, or richer operational controls should choose a product built around those requirements instead.
