Our verdict on Day in Hand

Day in Hand is a cloud-based homeschool planning and recordkeeping app for families managing learning for one or more children. Parents organize courses, reusable lesson plans, assignments and weekly schedules in a parent workspace; children can view their own work and routines. Families bring their own curriculum, so this is a fit for households that need organization and records rather than instructional content.

Its planning and recordkeeping features connect day-to-day activity with a broader record. Families can track attendance and assignment completion, add optional grades, notes and parent feedback, and save journals, photos, files and work samples. Reports and family-data export support reviewing or keeping those records, while calendar subscriptions can connect weekly plans to other calendar software. Habits, rewards and family encouragement add routine-oriented tools. This breadth makes the product more than a lesson-plan organizer, though families seeking curriculum or a dedicated mobile app should look elsewhere; the listed platform is web only.

According to the vendor's pricing information, Monthly costs $8.99 per family workspace, and Annual costs $84.99 per family workspace. Both plans include one family workspace. There is no free plan or free trial, although the vendor describes a free demo. Email is the listed support channel. Day in Hand is therefore most suitable for families willing to pay for a web-based system that brings planning, attendance and records together. Those who want to try the full service free before subscribing, or need curriculum included, may prefer another option.
