DataCore SANsymphony is software-defined block storage for SAN and hyperconverged infrastructure environments. It is designed for organizations that need continuous data protection alongside storage consolidation, high availability, disaster recovery, and flexible on-premises deployment. The platform pools and virtualizes storage across heterogeneous hardware, while supporting physical servers, virtual machines, and containers. Its protection capabilities include point-in-time rollback, immutable snapshots, synchronous mirroring, transparent failover, asynchronous replication, and site recovery.

SANsymphony is sold through four editions. Enterprise is the full-featured edition, with the highest performance and flexibility. Standard is a midrange edition licensed by managed capacity. Business is an entry-level edition for smaller high-availability installations, with a 10 TB minimum capacity per group and a two-node minimum. Backup Repository is intended as a backup and remote-replication target, uses 25 TB expansion increments, and has a two-host concurrent limit. A 30-day free trial is available, while paid deployment follows a contact-sales model.

The product has a broad storage and protection scope rather than focusing only on backup. It combines storage pooling, thin provisioning, auto-tiering, caching, parallel I/O, deduplication, compression, encryption, snapshots, and backup integration with centralized management through REST API and PowerShell. Listed integrations include VMware Virtual Volumes, Windows File Server, and Veeam Backup & Replication. Teams seeking self-hosted infrastructure with layered recovery and storage services should consider SANsymphony. Smaller environments should evaluate the Business edition’s capacity and node requirements, while organizations wanting a narrowly focused backup product may prefer a more specialized alternative.
