Data Rescue is file-recovery software for home users, businesses, and IT professionals working on Windows or macOS. It scans internal and external hard drives, SSDs, USB flash drives, SD cards, Compact Flash cards, and other removable media for deleted, formatted, or inaccessible files. Quick Scan targets failed-to-boot operating systems and unmounted drives, while Deep Scan covers emptied trash and reformatted drives. File search and preview help identify recoverable content before recovery, and the product also includes drive cloning, scan management, a read-only hex viewer, secure erase, and virtual RAID support.
The pricing structure is aimed at time-limited or ongoing recovery needs. The Trial allows new users to scan and preview lost files, with free data recovery up to 1GB. Standard costs $79 for 30 days and includes unlimited data recovery and unlimited software access during that period. Professional costs $399 per year, with unlimited data recovery and unlimited software access for one year. Buyers handling a single recovery project may find Standard more appropriate, while recurring recovery work has a clearer fit with the annual Professional plan.
Data Rescue’s strongest focus is recovery depth across common storage media and difficult access scenarios. The Mac edition can create a bootable Recovery Drive for a non-booting startup drive, and drive cloning provides a dedicated option for working with a copy. Virtual RAID support adds coverage for RAID 0 and JBOD, though buyers with other RAID requirements should consider an alternative. Choose Data Rescue for Mac or Windows recovery that benefits from previews, cloning, bootable recovery, and defined paid access periods; choose elsewhere if you need broader RAID coverage or a time-unlimited free plan.
