Our verdict on DashKeep
DashKeep adds cloud connectivity and fleet-oriented tools to compatible Wi-Fi dashcams. It is designed for individual drivers, families, tradespeople, rideshare operators, and fleets that need automatic footage uploads, remote playback, incident detection, and clip sharing. Support for multiple dashcam brands and models broadens its hardware fit, while the web interface and API provide access beyond the camera itself. DashKeep is also open source and offers a self-hosted Community Edition for customers who want to control storage.
The published DashKeep Cloud plan costs $4.99 per camera per month when billed annually. It includes 12 hours of high-quality cloud footage, video up to 4K at 60 fps, an archive of older trip data, and clip export with password-protected sharing. DashKeep also provides playback with speed and map overlays, incident detection for sudden braking, impacts, and parking bumps, vehicle monitoring, and tools for trimming and annotating clips. The high-quality window is rolling; older trip data remains in the archive as a lower-quality video copy.
For storage control, the Community Edition uses a customer-owned S3 bucket, with a customer-selected storage region, and DashKeep does not receive the footage. Integrations include Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, MQTT, Home Assistant, openHAB, Control4, and Savant. These options suit technical teams and users comfortable managing storage or connecting dashcam events to home automation systems. DashKeep is marked Beta, and several advanced fleet capabilities are coming soon, so organizations seeking broader fleet-safety workflows should consider alternatives. It fits users who value mixed-brand support, open-source hosting, APIs, and flexible storage more than a mature fleet operations suite.
