Our verdict on DAQFactory

DAQFactory is Windows desktop software for acquiring device data, building operator screens, and automating monitoring and control applications. Its stated audience includes industrial, laboratory, and other data-acquisition settings. The Lite license supports 32 I/O channels/tags, Base supports 64, and Pro supports unlimited I/O channels/tags. A separate Runtime license is for running DAQFactory applications. A 25-day trial gives prospective buyers a way to evaluate the software before purchasing; the product is paid, with no current free plan described.

Its strongest fit is projects that need a mix of data collection and control rather than a browser-based monitoring layer. DAQFactory supports Modbus RTU, TCP, and ASCII in master and slave roles, as well as OPC servers, LabJack, manufacturer DLL-based devices, and listed connections for Allen-Bradley DF1, Mitsubishi A/Q/FX, and Dataforth isoLynx. Custom operator screens, live and historical trends, configurable PID loops with autotuning, alarms, event logs, acknowledgements, and notifications cover several common SCADA tasks. Scripting and sequences provide process automation, while remote DAQFactory installations can connect for monitoring and control.

For logging and analysis, the software writes to files and ODBC-compliant databases and can graph live and historical data. That makes it a candidate for modest Windows installations where local acquisition, control, and data retention belong in one desktop application. The trade-off is its deployment model: it is desktop and on-premises, and the category specifications list no web client. Buyers who need browser access or a current free edition should look elsewhere; those whose work fits Windows and the available I/O tiers can compare Lite, Base, Pro, and Runtime against their application needs.
