Our verdict on CX's Music
CX's Music is a free, open-source local music player offered as separate apps for Android and Windows. It suits listeners who want offline playback and detailed control over their music without an account. The Android app supports MP3, M4A, FLAC, WAV, OGG and Opus, while the Windows player handles those formats along with AIFF, WMA and DSF/DSD audio through software conversion. Both apps provide playback speed and pitch controls, but their features and libraries are not identical.
Library tools differ by platform. Android supports searching by title, artist, album and folder, plus custom playlists with icons and independent playback modes. Windows adds search by composer and lyricist, smart playlists, recently played and top rated lists, and metadata editing. Lyrics display includes karaoke highlighting and editing. Equalizer controls are also platform-specific: Android has a 10-band equalizer with presets, while Windows has an 18-band equalizer with named presets. Choose based on the device and library features that matter most rather than expecting one synchronized experience across both.
Windows is the stronger fit for format breadth and conversion: it can convert audio to FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AAC, MP3 or Opus. Android focuses on portable playback and its own search, playlist and lyrics tools. The vendor describes both versions as offline and without ads or accounts, and says the product is MIT-licensed and entirely free. However, the apps are independently developed, and settings and data are not shared between them. The listed support channel is community, so listeners who need a unified cross-device library or another support model should consider a different player. CX's Music makes sense for solo listeners comfortable choosing and managing each platform separately.
