Our verdict on Curatr

Curatr is a web-based tool for building curated news feeds for local communities, niche audiences and industry newsletters. It monitors RSS feeds, sitemaps and web pages, and editors can also add stories manually. Keyword, locality-anchor and negative-term filters help narrow incoming stories; AI can produce briefings in a configured tone and create editorial illustrations. Its intended audience is editors who want to turn incoming stories into reviewed, multi-channel briefings rather than simply collect links.

The editorial workflow is a notable strength: stories move through a human approval queue where editors can edit, reject or schedule them. Approved items can go to a public feed, email newsletter, RSS, social carousels or an embeddable website widget. Reader-facing Play Mode, story ratings and quizzes add participation options, while analytics cover visitors, engagement, newsletter opens and clicks, and source performance. The platform is web-based, with RSS listed as an integration. Social distribution needs a distinction: carousel export is available, while native one-click social publishing is still in development. Teams seeking direct social posting should account for that limitation.

According to the vendor's pricing page, Starter lists 500 AI credits per month, up to 3 feeds, simplification, basic analytics, source management and email support. Pro lists 2,000 credits, unlimited feeds, AI illustrations, Play Mode, quiz generation and community insights. Team lists 10,000 credits and says collaboration, multiple workspaces, branding and API access are planned. Although a free plan is stated, the page says pricing and tiers are in development, limits are indicative, and plan buttons say “Coming soon.” Signup is beta and invite-only. Curatr suits editors comfortable evaluating an early-stage service; organizations needing presently available, settled plans or native social publishing should wait or consider alternatives.
