Cthulhu is a MIDI effect plug-in from Xfer Records for producers who want to create, reshape and perform chord progressions from single-note presses. Its chord module combines more than 150 factory presets with MIDI import and chord recording for analysis. A separate pattern-based arpeggiator processes incoming notes or chords, making the product relevant to solo and small-team producers working in compatible DAW hosts on Windows or macOS.
The standout strength is the combination of chord organization and sequencing depth. Chords can be sorted by Circle of Fifths, chromatic order or low note, while the eight-tab step sequencer allows independent tab lengths.
