CrossConvert review
An offline Mac converter for structured data, with flexible CSV handling and previews.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
CrossConvert is a macOS desktop app for converting structured data among JSON, CSV, YAML, and TOML. It is aimed at developers, data engineers, DevOps practitioners, QA engineers, and data analysts who need to move data between these formats. Its focus is practical rather than broad: it handles conversion and formatting locally, with options for previewing and exporting results.
For CSV work, CrossConvert detects input delimiters and lets users configure the output delimiter. It can flatten nested structures into dot-notation columns and expand arrays into multiple CSV rows, which makes it more useful for structured data than a basic format switcher. Pretty-printing and minification are supported, with configurable two- or four-space indentation. Users can load files, choose a destination and filename for converted output, or copy the result to the clipboard.
The vendor says conversions run locally and offline, so the app is suited to Mac users who prefer desktop processing and do not need cloud conversion. Its scope is also its boundary: it is macOS-only, has no batch conversion or API access, and does not offer a free plan. CrossConvert makes sense for solo users and small teams with occasional or focused JSON, CSV, YAML, and TOML tasks; buyers who need a free option, broader platform support, or batch workflows should look elsewhere.
