Our verdict on Cover
Cover brings comic reading and library management together in a Windows desktop app. It suits readers who keep comic files in local folders, network paths, or supported cloud storage and want to browse them as a searchable collection. Shelves, read status, page counts, and current-page tracking help organize a library, while automatic updates reflect when files are added or removed.
Its format and reading options make the app useful across different comic collections. Cover supports CBZ, CBR, CB7, CBT, PDF, image-only EPUB, and image files. Readers can choose single- or dual-page layouts, fit-to-page options, or infinite scrolling, and can switch between left-to-right and right-to-left manga direction. Pinch-to-zoom, swipe and tap controls, customizable keyboard shortcuts, and page backgrounds offer additional ways to tailor reading. It is focused on comics rather than panel-by-panel reading, so readers who need panel guidance should look elsewhere.
The free plan allows up to 25 books. According to the vendor’s pricing page, a lifetime purchase costs €1.49 for a 250-book limit, while €4.99 unlocks an unlimited library; an existing 250-book purchase can be upgraded for €3.49. These are one-time purchases, rather than recurring subscriptions. OneDrive, Google Drive, and Dropbox can provide library sources, but the vendor describes folder and library syncing rather than general cloud syncing of reading progress. Cover is a good fit for Windows readers building a file-based comic library; readers who need other platforms or progress sync across devices should consider an alternative.
