Our verdict on Corona Renderer

Corona Renderer is a paid rendering plugin for architectural visualization workflows in Autodesk 3ds Max and Maxon Cinema 4D. It is aimed at individual creators, visualization artists, and studios producing interiors, exteriors, product imagery, stills, and animated sequences. The renderer combines CPU-based biased and unbiased rendering with physically based materials and lighting, interactive rendering, animation support, and distributed rendering across multiple computers. Windows and macOS are supported, while the published trial period is 30 days.

The plan structure is built around asset access and Chaos services. Corona Solo includes the photorealistic rendering engine, up to 15,000 3D assets and materials, Veras AI, and Cloud Collaboration. Corona Premium includes everything in Solo, more than 18,500 3D assets and materials, an enhanced realistic material library, and five times as many Chaos credits as Solo. Corona Collection includes the rendering engine, 22,000+ assets and materials, real-time ray-traced rendering through Vantage, Cloud Collaboration, and 1,500 Chaos Credits monthly. This makes the higher tiers more relevant to teams or artists who need broader asset libraries and deeper Chaos tool access.

Corona’s strongest fit is a visualization workflow that benefits from interactive rendering, LightMix for post-render lighting adjustments, render elements and multipasses, denoising, and Chaos Cosmos asset integration. It also connects with Autodesk Backburner, Thinkbox Deadline, Cinema 4D Team Render, Chaos Vantage, and Chaos Cosmos. The main boundary is architectural: Corona itself is CPU-based, with GPU use limited to optional AI denoising and Vantage workflows rather than the core renderer. Choose Corona for focused 3ds Max or Cinema 4D visualization; choose another renderer if native GPU rendering is essential.
