Core Shell is a terminal and SSH client for developers, system administrators and other users managing multiple remote hosts. It supports OpenSSH connections, including certificates and ProxyJump, while host profiles, tags and one-click login make recurring connections easier to organize. macOS Keychain integration handles passphrases, and the product also includes SSH/SFTP file transfers and serial terminal connections. Its platform focus is Apple hardware: macOS, iOS and iPadOS.

The free Basic Free plan includes unlimited hosts, giving users a way to maintain a sizable connection list without moving immediately to a paid tier. Premium 1-Year License and Premium 4-Year License add unlimited SSH and serial connections, profile import and export, profile and tag synchronization across Macs, Shortcuts automation and priority customer support. This structure makes the product particularly suitable for users who want a free host manager first and Apple-focused workflow features as their needs grow.

Core Shell’s strongest fit is its combination of connection management and Apple ecosystem integration. Automatic reconnect after network failures or sleep can help maintain continuity, while AppleScript, Automator, Shortcuts, iCloud and Keychain integrations support platform-native workflows. The trade-off is a narrow ecosystem and a focused SSH feature set: port forwarding is not supported, and the product is not aimed at users who need clients across a wider range of operating systems or more extensive network tooling. Choose Core Shell for native Apple SSH profiles, SFTP and automation; consider an alternative for cross-platform deployment or port-forwarding workflows.
