Composer by Orchestral review
A self-hosted orchestration platform for automating complex hybrid IT environments.

Composer by Orchestral is a self-hosted workflow automation and orchestration platform based on StackStorm. It is designed for IT and infrastructure teams managing complex, distributed, multivendor environments across hybrid infrastructure. The platform covers provisioning, configuration, validation, monitoring, remediation, and other cross-domain processes through event-driven sensors and rules, a drag-and-drop workflow designer, web administration, RESTful and open APIs, LDAP, and role-based access control.
The published plans show two options. Premier includes the Composer Platform and Premier Packs. Enterprise Level Support provides enterprise support for StackStorm open-source packs. Composer has no free plan, while Orchestral offers a 30-day Proof of Value evaluation. Pricing uses a contact-sales model, so organizations will need a commercial discussion to assess the appropriate tier. The product supports web, Linux, and API access, with standalone or high-availability clustered deployments on Linux virtual machines.
Composer’s main strength is cross-domain coverage. Its integrations include Slack, Microsoft Teams, PagerDuty, AWS, Azure, GCP, VMware, Nutanix, OpenStack, Cisco, ServiceNow, Splunk, GitHub, and Jenkins. That combination supports workflows spanning cloud platforms, infrastructure, incident response, IT service management, monitoring, and delivery tools. Choose Composer when self-hosted control, visual orchestration, event-driven automation, and auto-remediation are priorities. Organizations seeking a free plan, transparent public pricing, or a simpler hosted automation tool should consider alternatives.
