CompleteFTP review
A broad managed file transfer server for automated, resilient enterprise file exchange.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
CompleteFTP is a server-based managed file transfer product for organizations that need secure, automated file exchange. It supports FTP, FTPS, SFTP, SCP, HTTP/HTTPS and SSH, along with user, group, quota and permission management. The product runs on Windows across all editions; Enterprise MFT also supports Linux. Deployment can be on premises, in cloud virtual machines or in hybrid environments, making it suited to teams managing partner transfers, internal file exchange and scheduled workflows.
Pricing is structured as perpetual, per-server licensing rather than subscriptions, with 12 months of support and upgrades included. The Free plan costs nothing and includes FTP and FTPS, a virtual file system, unlimited users and non-Windows users. Standard costs $369 per server and adds SFTP, Windows users, auto-banning and remote administration. Professional costs $749 per server and adds Active Directory users, SCP, HTTP/HTTPS, email and process events, CompleteBox file sharing and advanced permissions. Enterprise MFT costs $1,699 per server and adds multiple sites, clustering, a multi-protocol gateway, custom authentication, custom file systems and custom events. A 31-day free trial is available.
CompleteFTP is strongest when file movement needs more than basic server access. Event notifications, scheduled triggers, process automation, server-side JavaScript, PowerShell and batch scripting support repeatable workflows, while integrations include Active Directory, LDAP, external databases, Amazon S3, Azure file shares, Google Cloud Storage, SharePoint, OneDrive and Syslog. REST and command-line administration, audit logging, web administration and optional clustering extend its operational scope. Choose it for broad protocol coverage, automation and failover; organizations needing only simple FTP or FTPS may find the higher editions unnecessary, while teams requiring Linux outside Enterprise MFT should consider another option.
