Command-Tab Plus review
A focused macOS switcher for keyboard-first users who move between apps and windows.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
Command-Tab Plus is a native macOS application and window switcher from MacPlus Software. It replaces the default macOS Application Switcher with keyboard-driven selection for applications and windows within the selected application. The product is intended for Mac users who frequently move between multiple applications and windows, especially those who prefer keyboard control over pointer-based navigation. The current version supports Intel and Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
Its strongest fit is focused switching rather than full window arrangement. Users can isolate applications by Space, hide inactive applications, apply application filters, and move between windows within the selected app. Customizable hotkeys provide control over how switching works, while customizable appearance options and user-created skins address visual preferences. These features make it a practical choice for users whose main friction is finding the right app or window, but it is less suited to people seeking a broad window layout manager.
The paid plans separate license coverage and upgrade rights. Command-Tab Plus 2 Standard provides a perpetual license for one Mac and free updates for version 2. Command-Tab Plus 2 Lifetime covers three Macs with a lifetime or perpetual license and free upgrades to version 3 and beyond. There is no free plan, and the product runs only on macOS. Choose it if keyboard-driven application and intra-application switching are the priority; choose an alternative if you need cross-platform support or a wider set of window organization tools.
