Combell OpenStack Public Cloud review
Affordable public OpenStack hosting with a 30-day trial and self-managed control.

Combell OpenStack Public Cloud provides self-managed public cloud infrastructure for launching virtual servers, attaching persistent storage, configuring networks and using load balancers. It suits technical users who want direct control through OpenStack Horizon or APIs, with Linux and Windows server configurations, availability zones and automatic restart after infrastructure faults. Customers can also use public and private networking and select from several compute configurations.
Pricing is usage-based with a 30-day trial and no free plan. The Standard configuration costs €4.91 per instance per month and includes 1 vCPU, 1 GB vRAM, 25 GB SSD and unlimited data traffic. Small HD costs €8.20 per instance per month for 2 vCPU, 2 GB vRAM, 40 GB SSD and unlimited data traffic. Medium HD costs €28.23 per instance per month for 3 vCPU, 4 GB vRAM, 160 GB SSD and unlimited data traffic. Additional published configurations include Standard at €25.03, Small HD at €21.53 and Medium HD at €33.53 per instance per month, with different compute and storage allocations. Prices exclude VAT.
The platform’s main strength is its breadth within core OpenStack infrastructure: persistent block storage, volume snapshots, full and incremental backups, images, availability zones, high availability and network management are included. Storage options cover NetApp Performance-Y1 block storage, general NVMe, full SSD and HDD storage. The trade-off is the operating model: this is not a managed control-plane service, and bare-metal instances are not available. Choose Combell when self-management and flexible virtual infrastructure matter; consider another option when managed operations or bare-metal capacity is essential.
