Code Search is a self-hosted platform for searching, browsing, navigating, and replacing code across indexed repositories. It is suited to teams that want to keep deployment on their own infrastructure while connecting repositories from GitHub, GitHub Enterprise, GitLab, Gitea, or Bitbucket. The platform is available on web, Windows, macOS, Linux, API, and self-hosted deployments, with an open-source Community edition for teams starting with core code search and navigation.

The Community plan is free and includes full-text search, regex queries with repository and language filters, bulk find and replace, a CLI, an MCP server, SCIP code intelligence, and Docker and Kubernetes deployment. It also supports repository connections across the listed Git providers. Enterprise adds OIDC single sign-on, role-based access control, audit logging, Ed25519 license management, priority support, and custom user limits and SLA. Enterprise pricing uses a contact-sales model, with annual billing options available through that process.

Code Search stands out through the breadth of its repository workflows. In addition to searching, it supports symbol search, go-to-definition, find-references, repository management, and bulk changes that can automatically create a merge or pull request. Its built-in MCP server connects the code-search workflow with AI coding assistants, while horizontal scaling through sharding supports larger deployments. Teams should pick it when self-hosting, repository connectivity, and code navigation are priorities. Teams seeking a vendor-hosted service or broader non-code search should consider a different type of tool.
