ClearML is an open-source AI infrastructure and MLOps platform for data scientists, ML engineers, DevOps teams, and enterprises. Its scope extends from experiment tracking to dataset versioning, model management, pipeline orchestration, job scheduling, compute-resource management, remote development, and model serving. Teams can access it through hosted SaaS, self-hosted software, or enterprise deployments across VPC, on-premises, air-gapped, and hybrid environments.

The pricing structure gives smaller teams a low-cost entry point. The Community plan is $0 and includes dataset versioning, experiment management, a model repository, pipelines, agent orchestration, and CI/CD automation. Pro costs $15 per user per month, plus usage, and adds cloud auto scaling for AWS, GCP, and Azure, hyperparameter optimization, pipeline triggers and automations, dashboards, and pay-as-you-go storage and activity. Scale adds Hyper-Datasets, fine-tuning, an IDE Launcher, Kubernetes integration, SSO integration, and private Slack channel support. Enterprise adds Custom Apps, a Configuration Vault, Slurm/PBS and LDAP integrations, role-based access control, and professional services.

ClearML fits teams that want experiment tracking connected to the rest of the ML lifecycle rather than a standalone tracking dashboard. The tracking layer covers metrics, plots, logs, artifacts, and comparisons, while the model repository provides searchable metadata and lineage. Dataset management spans file systems and object storage, and pipelines support repeatable workflow execution. Framework and tool integrations include PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, scikit-learn, XGBoost, LightGBM, CatBoost, Hugging Face Transformers, Optuna, Hydra, TensorBoard, and LangChain. Choose ClearML for broad platform coverage and deployment flexibility; choose a narrower tool if you only need experiment comparisons and do not want orchestration, compute management, or serving features.

ClearML pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Community includes tracking, datasets, models, pipelines, and orchestration
    • Supports web, API, self-hosted, VPC, on-premises, air-gapped, and hybrid deployments
    • Integrates with PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, Hugging Face, Optuna, and Hydra
  • Where it doesn't
    • Scale and Enterprise use quote-based pricing
    • Pro adds usage-based storage and activity costs
    • Its broad MLOps scope may exceed the needs of tracking-only teams
