Citrix ADC (now NetScaler) review
A broad hybrid-cloud ADC for enterprises that need balancing, automation, and observability.

Citrix ADC, now marketed as NetScaler, is an application delivery controller for enterprises running workloads across on-premises, public-cloud, and hybrid environments. It distributes application traffic across backend servers at Layer 4 and Layer 7, supports SSL/TLS offloading, and provides global server load balancing across data centers. Its traffic controls include content switching by IP, URL, and HTTP headers, session persistence, health monitoring, custom service monitors, and algorithms such as least connections and round robin.
The published subscription options are designed around deployment scope and capacity. Citrix Universal Hybrid Multi-Cloud License is deployable in any environment, includes all NetScaler instance types, allows unlimited NetScaler software instances, provides 1,000 Gbps throughput capacity, and includes software support. Citrix Platform License retains the same deployment and instance coverage with unlimited Gbps throughput capacity. NetScaler Fixed-Capacity License is deployable in any environment, includes all instance types and software support, and uses a defined number of software instances. Pricing is handled through contact with sales, and there is no free plan.
NetScaler fits teams that need a broad infrastructure ecosystem: integrations include AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, Oracle Cloud, Kubernetes, Rancher, Terraform, Ansible, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic, and New Relic. NITRO APIs extend infrastructure automation, while observability integrations can connect traffic operations with monitoring workflows. Choose it when Layer 4/7 control, multicloud deployment, GSLB, TLS termination, and automation need to coexist in one ADC. Organizations seeking a free or self-service-priced load balancer should consider a different option.
