Our verdict on Chrome Browser Cloud Management

Chrome Browser Cloud Management, now presented by Google as Chrome Enterprise Core, is a cloud service for IT teams administering managed Chrome browsers and extensions. It suits mid-market and enterprise organizations that need centralized policy administration, extension workflows and reporting across Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, iOS/iPadOS and Android environments. Administrators can also enroll existing browsers using an enrollment token.

Extension management is a particular strength: teams can process extension requests, allow or block items, force-install extensions, control permissions and hosts, and create custom Chrome Web Store collections that include private extensions. Reporting covers browser versions, apps, extensions and policies. Automatic browser updates, release-channel controls, version pinning and limited rollback scenarios add lifecycle controls. Jamf, VMware Workspace ONE and Microsoft Intune are listed integrations, so organizations using those tools can consider its fit alongside existing device management.

Pricing separates the free management foundation from optional security features. Chrome Enterprise Core costs $0 and includes cloud policy and settings management, reporting, and extension request, allow, block and force-install controls. Chrome Enterprise Premium starts at $6 per user per month and adds advanced browser security controls, data loss prevention, context-aware access and security insights. Google lists community and documentation support. Core is a fit for organizations focused on Chrome administration and extension governance; teams needing Premium's security and access capabilities should account for the per-user charge, while those seeking management across non-Chrome browser ecosystems should look elsewhere.
