Chevereto is self-hosted software for running image and video hosting on your own infrastructure. It suits individuals, photographers, creators, organizations, stores, agencies, and teams that need control over media, storage, privacy, and branding. The platform supports personal galleries, public or private albums, link-based and password-protected sharing, embedded upload workflows, and managed Cloud as an alternative to self-hosting.

Pricing is structured around three self-hosted plans. Chevereto Free costs $0 as a one-time plan and includes an AGPLv3 license, essential features, and no subscription. Chevereto Lite costs $10 per month with a proprietary license, more features, and community support. Chevereto Pro costs $99 per year with a proprietary license, all features, and pro support. A 14-day free trial is also available. The paid plans add capability and support, while deployment-specific storage, bandwidth, and upload limits depend on configuration rather than a fixed Lite-plan quota.

Its strongest fit is customization depth. Teams can configure resizing, thumbnails, medium images, and maximum image dimensions; use public and user-based APIs; and generate HTML, BBCode, and Markdown sharing codes. Branding controls cover logos, favicons, themes, CSS, JavaScript, and terminology. External storage integrations include Amazon S3, S3-compatible services, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Backblaze B2, Alibaba Cloud, FTP, and SFTP. Roles, two-factor authentication, search, filtering, tags, categories, upload moderation, flood protection, CAPTCHA, spam controls, and CSAM integrations support community-facing deployments. Choose Chevereto when infrastructure control and customization matter more than a fully managed setup; choose an alternative if your priority is avoiding deployment and configuration responsibilities.

Chevereto pros and cons

  • Where it wins
• Broad upload, album privacy, embedding, and sharing options
    • APIs, image transformations, moderation, roles, and 2FA
    • Supports S3, cloud, FTP, SFTP, and multiple anti-spam services
  • Where it doesn't
    • Self-hosted deployments require your own infrastructure and configuration
    • Advanced capabilities require a paid proprietary-license tier
    • Storage and bandwidth limits depend on deployment rather than a fixed quota
