Chainalysis provides blockchain analytics and intelligence software for government agencies, financial institutions, exchanges, and other organizations. Its tools support crypto investigations, transaction monitoring, risk assessment, and blockchain data access. The suite is aimed at mid-market and enterprise teams that need structured workflows for compliance, investigations, and crypto risk management. It is available through web software and APIs, with cloud deployment.

For investigators, Reactor traces cryptocurrency funds across blockchains, visualizes transaction networks, and maps activity to real-world entities. KYT monitors incoming and outgoing transactions, generates real-time alerts, and supports configurable thresholds, rules, and typologies. Teams can screen wallet addresses for illicit exposure and manage alerts through case workflows. APIs and feeds provide attribution, transaction, and risk-signal data for downstream systems. Integrations include Cellebrite, i2, and Siren, while the product specifications include investigation tools, wallet and entity intelligence, DeFi protocol analytics, and market network analytics. AI features are also included.

Commercially, Chainalysis uses a contact-sales pricing model, with buyers directed to request a demo. That approach fits organizations evaluating a broader investigation and compliance program rather than individuals seeking a self-serve analytics tool. Cloud-only deployment is a consideration for teams with infrastructure requirements outside hosted software, and community support may be less suitable for buyers expecting dedicated service channels. Choose Chainalysis when cross-blockchain tracing, entity intelligence, monitoring, screening, and case handling need to work together. Consider alternatives if self-service pricing, on-premises deployment, or a different support model is essential.

Chainalysis pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Cross-blockchain tracing with entity mapping to real-world identities
    • Real-time monitoring, screening, alerts, and case-management workflows
    • APIs and feeds connect blockchain intelligence to investigation workflows
  • Where it doesn't
    • Pricing requires a sales conversation rather than self-serve checkout
    • Cloud deployment may not suit teams requiring on-premises infrastructure
    • Community support may not fit buyers seeking dedicated service
