Our verdict on Caternet

Caternet is a cloud-based catering management platform for food-service and hospitality operators, including contract catering, education, care, pubs and restaurants. Its focus is back-of-house operations: supplier procurement, purchasing, stock control, recipes, sales analysis and reporting. It is suited to teams coordinating purchasing and inventory, including operators working across locations. Caternet is not a fit for organisations seeking a documented diner-facing system for meal preordering, entitlements or menu management.

Procurement and stock control are central to its scope. The product supports supplier procurement and purchase-to-pay workflows, with live pricing insights and automated supplier orders and payments. Inventory tools provide stock visibility and internal transfers across locations, while a supplier hub supports agreements, transparency and live trading. Recipe tools allow creation, sharing and scaling across an organisation and track nutritional and allergen information. These capabilities make Caternet more relevant to operators managing purchasing, recipes and inventory together than to teams whose main need is collecting diner orders.

Caternet also connects with point-of-sale systems for sales analysis and real-time budget monitoring, alongside business data integration, reporting and analytics. The cloud product is offered for small, mid-market and enterprise organisations, and the vendor lists phone support and GDPR compliance.
