Carpathian Cloud review
Flexible virtual machines at $10 per month, with fewer managed-service assurances.

Carpathian Cloud provides managed virtual private servers on infrastructure owned and operated by Carpathian in Iowa. It is aimed at users who want to assemble a virtual machine from independently priced vCPU, memory, disk, and bandwidth instead of choosing a fixed bundle. Full root or administrator access is available through SSH, RDP, or VNC-based screen sharing. The service supports Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, and Windows Server, with a web dashboard for provisioning, resource usage, billing, DNS, and deployment status. A monthly starting price of $10 makes it a fit for cost-conscious deployments that still need control over the server environment.
Pricing is component-based, although the published plans provide two clear starting points. Spark costs $10 per month and includes a configurable virtual machine, full root access, the listed operating system images, a base network tier, monitoring, and DDoS mitigation. Quasar costs $75 per month and adds dedicated bare-metal hardware, one tenant per machine, optional GPU support, and hardware maintenance and replacement by Carpathian. This structure suits workloads that benefit from independently scaling resources, while Quasar is more appropriate when dedicated hardware matters. There is no free plan.
Operational features cover nightly backup archives, on-demand snapshots, uptime, SSL, and resource monitoring, plus DDoS mitigation. Standard disk images can be exported without proprietary formats, which supports portability beyond the service. GitLab, Jenkins, Kubernetes, and Grafana are listed integrations, and the platform is available through the web and API. The trade-off is the service level: support coverage is business hours, and the uptime SLA is 99.5%. Carpathian Cloud should appeal to technically capable teams that prioritize configurable infrastructure, access, and portability. Organizations requiring 24/7 support or stronger availability commitments should consider a provider with those service terms.
Carpathian Cloud pros and cons
- Where it wins
- Independently scale vCPU, memory, disk, and bandwidth
- Full root or administrator access with Linux and Windows Server images
- Nightly backups, snapshots, monitoring, DDoS mitigation, and exports
- Where it doesn't
- Support coverage is limited to business hours
- The 99.5% uptime SLA is modest for managed hosting
- No free plan is available
