CapFrameX review
Free, open-source Windows analyzer for detailed frame-time capture and run comparison.

CapFrameX is a Windows desktop application for measuring game performance through frame-time capture and analysis. It combines Intel PresentMon capture with FPS and frame-time charts, hardware sensor logging, configurable overlays, repeated-run aggregation, and capture comparison. Solo users and small teams can inspect detailed performance behavior, generate reports, share captures, and export raw data for further analysis.
The project is free and open-source, with desktop deployment on Windows. Its main strength is the depth of each captured run: users can review percentiles, stuttering, distributions, average rows, and variance views instead of relying only on average FPS. CPU, GPU, memory, and storage sensors can be logged alongside captures, while hook-free, in-game, and RTSS overlays support different monitoring setups. JSON and optional CSV output make the results usable outside the application. Integrations include Intel PresentMon, RivaTuner Statistics Server, BENCHLAB, and MCP-compatible AI clients. An in-process MCP server adds AI-assisted capture analysis without changing the core benchmarking workflow.
CapFrameX focuses on analyzing recorded runs rather than supplying standardized scenes or automated benchmark workloads. That makes it a strong fit for people who already have a game, scenario, or test routine and want fine-grained frame-time evidence across repeated captures. It is less suitable for teams seeking a turnkey suite that launches consistent 3D tests or automates workload execution. The Windows-only desktop scope also limits platform coverage, and support is centered on community resources and documentation. Choose CapFrameX for transparent, detailed run analysis; consider a broader automation-oriented benchmark tool when standardized workloads are the priority.
