Our verdict on Campfire Hosting

Campfire Hosting provides cloud hosting for Minecraft Java and Bedrock servers, with runtime-based billing rather than a subscription. It is aimed at players and small groups who want a server to run only when someone joins: the service can start it automatically, save it and shut it down when no players remain. Java and Bedrock support includes cross-platform play, and plans span vanilla play, Paper servers and modpacks. That makes Campfire a fit for groups whose activity is intermittent and whose server needs vary from a light setup to a heavier modpack.

Pricing is divided into eight hourly plans. Coal costs $0.04 per hour for vanilla with 1–2 people; Copper is $0.05 for vanilla with more players or light datapacks; Quartz is $0.06 for Paper with a handful of plugins. Iron costs $0.07 for plugin servers and light modpacks, Lapis is $0.08 for mid-size Forge and Fabric modpacks, and Gold is $0.09 for mid-size modpacks with more players. Redstone is $0.10 for heavy modpacks such as All the Mods or DawnCraft, while Diamond is $0.11 for heavy modpacks with a bigger crowd. Billing is tied to server runtime, so idle shutdown is central to the pricing proposition. There is also a two-hour signup trial without a card, but no perpetual free plan.

Modpack setup is a strong point: CurseForge and Modrinth installs are one-click, while file management is available through the web interface and FTP. Backups run every 24 hours and are retained for seven days; usage and credit monitoring, plus a free subdomain for each server, add useful administration tools. The trade-off is a choice of only U.S. East and European locations, and plugin support is manual. Support channels are email, community and documentation rather than 24/7 support. Choose Campfire for an intermittently used server where idle shutdown and modpack convenience matter; look elsewhere if you need more location options or round-the-clock support.
