Our verdict on CamelCamelCamel
CamelCamelCamel is a free Amazon price-tracking service for shoppers comparing current offers with past prices or waiting for a target price. Its charts show high, low, and average prices for Amazon listings, third-party new items, and third-party used items. Shoppers can search for products, create price watches, and set a threshold for email alerts when prices drop or availability conditions are met. The service is suited to individual shoppers and smaller-scale watch management, rather than people seeking a general tracker across retailers.
The core is price context plus alerts. A watch can be filtered and managed by status, price type, category, and product, which helps keep a collection of tracked items organized. Public Amazon wishlists can be imported, offering a way to start a watch list from products already saved there. Camelizer, the Chrome browser extension, displays price trends on Amazon product pages and can be used to set alerts. The listed locale coverage includes Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
CamelCamelCamel is a practical pick if Amazon is where you shop and you want to judge a listing against historical prices before buying. Its free model and focused features suit shoppers who need straightforward price watches without a paid tier decision. The trade-off is scope: the product centers on Amazon, and alerts are delivered by email. Shoppers who need a wider retailer ecosystem or more advanced product research capabilities should consider an alternative with broader functionality. Support is described through documentation, so buyers looking for other support channels may prefer a different service.
