ByteStash is a code snippet management application for developers and teams. It organizes snippets with revisions, diffs, full-text search across metadata and file contents, tags, and collections. Multi-file snippets support more structured examples, while public sharing, tokenized links, and embeds make it suitable for distributing reusable code. It is available as a hosted web product and as an open-source application for self-hosted deployment with Docker.
The hosted plans expand workspace and administration capabilities by tier. Free includes revisions and diffs, public sharing and embeds, and full-text search. Pro adds unlimited snippets per workspace, an MCP server, and custom public slugs. Team adds a workspace audit log, roles and permissions, and workspace defaults. Org adds SAML SSO, SCIM, custom limits, and unlimited snippets per workspace. This makes ByteStash suitable for individuals and teams that can match their collaboration or identity requirements to the relevant plan.
Its ecosystem fit is a central strength. ByteStash provides GitHub Gist, snippet-box, and ByteStash importers, plus a REST API with Swagger documentation. Its MCP server supports snippet management through compatible AI assistants and editors, including Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Codex, Perplexity, and other MCP-compatible editors. Choose ByteStash when searchable, versioned snippet storage and extensibility are the priority. Teams seeking a broader development collaboration suite may prefer a product built around a wider workflow than snippet management.
