BytePlus Edge Functions review
Low-cost edge JavaScript with cron and distributed KV, but a narrower integration ecosystem.

BytePlus Edge Functions is a serverless computing service for running JavaScript functions on BytePlus global edge nodes. It processes HTTP requests through domain triggers and supports scheduled Cron triggers, distributed Edge KV storage, streaming HTML responses, canary and full releases, and CLI-based deployment. It fits developers building CDN-adjacent workloads such as authentication, redirects, personalization, request processing, and edge-side rendering, particularly when scheduled execution and geographically distributed key-value data matter.
Pricing is usage-based rather than organized around a monthly paid subscription. Requests cost $0.30 per million per month, with 2,000,000 requests included in the monthly free tier. Edge KV reads cost $0.50 per million operations, with 2,000,000 included; writes and deletes each cost $5 per million, with 20,000 of each included. Stored Edge KV data costs $0.50 per GB per month and has no free tier. This structure keeps request processing inexpensive, while write-heavy or storage-heavy workloads need closer cost planning.
The platform combines a JavaScript ES6 runtime in V8 isolates with console, CLI, and OpenAPI deployment methods across web, macOS, Linux, and API environments. Its standout capability is the combination of scheduled execution, distributed KV, response streaming, and staged releases in one edge-function service. However, verified integrations are limited, so teams prioritizing a broad ecosystem may prefer an alternative. BytePlus Edge Functions is a strong fit for focused edge workloads that can work within its JavaScript runtime and usage-based pricing; it is less suitable for buyers seeking a free subscription plan or extensive pre-verified integrations.
