BT Diamond IP is an IP address management portfolio for organisations managing IPv4 and IPv6 across premises, branches, private clouds and public clouds. It combines IPControl software, Sapphire physical or virtual appliances, cloud automation and managed services. The product is suited to teams that need address and subnet allocation, reallocation and reclaim alongside DNS, DHCP, discovery, utilisation tracking, audit reporting and API integration. BT supports DIY, equipment-only and managed-service options, allowing deployment and operations to sit with BT or the customer’s own IT team.
Its ecosystem coverage is a central strength. BT Diamond IP integrates with AWS, Microsoft Azure, Oracle VM, VMware and Hyper-V, as well as ISC DHCP, BIND DNS, Microsoft DNS/DHCP and Cisco Network Registrar. The published capabilities also include Layer 2, Layer 3, ARP and IP discovery, plus cloud IP and DNS assignment automation. That combination gives hybrid environments a way to connect address management with network services, virtualisation and public-cloud workflows through REST API integration.
According to the published pricing model, BT Diamond IP uses contact sales rather than a listed self-serve tier structure. Buyers should therefore expect to discuss requirements and choose among software, appliances and managed services. The breadth is appropriate for managed-service buyers and organisations coordinating complex hybrid environments, especially where audit history, IPv6 support and lifecycle controls matter. Smaller teams seeking a narrowly focused IPAM tool or a straightforward public pricing path may prefer a simpler alternative.
BT Diamond IP pros and cons
- Where it wins
- Manages IPv4 and IPv6 allocation, reclaim and lifecycle workflows
- Combines DNS, DHCP, discovery, utilisation tracking and audit history
- Supports cloud automation, REST APIs and major virtualisation platforms
- Where it doesn't
- Pricing requires a contact-sales process
- The portfolio spans software, appliances and managed services
- May be more than needed for narrowly scoped IPAM requirements
