BoardPortal is a South African board governance platform for executives, company secretaries, risk and compliance teams, auditors and advisory firms. It brings board packs, meeting agendas, minutes, quorum tracking, resolutions, voting, conflicts of interest and governance records into one system. Its audience includes private organizations, public entities, SETAs, municipalities and governance advisers that need structured oversight and defensible records.

The published plan is BoardPortal Best Value You, with COI management, quorum tracking, voting and decisions, task management, mobile access and an audit trail. The product is paid and does not include a free plan. A 14-day trial is available, while the comparison-table price is R299 per user per month. Platform access is provided through the web and API. Integration options include Google Calendar, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Entra ID, REST API, webhooks and CSV pipelines, giving organizations several ways to connect calendars, identity systems and operational workflows.

Governance controls are the main reason to shortlist BoardPortal. Secure document storage includes version control and access permissions, while watermarked materials, device authentication, audit trails and governance record history support controlled handling of board information. Compliance workflows cover King IV, PFMA, the Companies Act and POPIA. Meeting administration extends from scheduling and agendas through quorum monitoring, minutes approval, digital voting and decision tracking, with conflict-of-interest declarations and recusal tracking included. Boards that prioritize regulated governance workflows and an auditable record should consider it. Organizations requiring native iOS or Android applications, or a free plan, should consider another portal.
