BlueSpice is open-source enterprise wiki software based on MediaWiki for companies, public authorities, and organizations building internal knowledge bases, public wikis, documentation systems, organization manuals, or integrated management systems. It supports web use and customer-operated infrastructure, making it suitable for teams that want control over deployment as well as structured content. The product combines visual and collaborative editing with templates, categories, subpages, full-text and attached-file search, version history, permissions, analytics, and exports. It is a strong fit for organizations that need more than a basic team wiki, while smaller teams seeking only lightweight documentation may find its scope broader than necessary.
BlueSpice uses a freemium structure. The Free plan includes a visual editor, performance search, templates, PDF export, and community support. Pro costs €4.50 per user per month and adds collaborative editing, workflows and approvals, customizable permissions, forms and metadata, and professional support. Farm costs €8.50 per user per month and adds multi-wiki management, multilingual content, master wikis, content transfer, and inter-wiki search. A 30-day free trial is available. The plan structure makes the free edition a practical starting point, while Pro is the more relevant tier for governed collaborative work and Farm is intended for organizations managing several wikis.
Its ecosystem supports Microsoft Teams, Slack, Rocket.Chat, LDAP/Active Directory, SAML, and OpenID Connect. Content can be exported to PDF, XML, CSV, and Excel, with Word import also available. AI features include an AI chatbot and AI editing assistance, alongside usage statistics and page analytics. These capabilities give BlueSpice breadth across content management, governance, integration, and reporting. Choose it when open-source deployment, detailed permissions, workflows, or multi-wiki administration matter. Consider a narrower knowledge base product instead if your priority is a simpler setup with fewer administrative layers.
