Blackwire Drive Eraser & Sanitizer is a Windows x64 application for home users, technicians, repair shops, IT teams, refurbishers, and businesses that need to erase disk data and document the process. It supports software overwrite, including NIST Clear zero overwrite, supported firmware sanitization, NVMe Block Erase and evidence-dependent Cryptographic Erase workflows, verification, drive-identity checks, protected-disk blocking, interrupted-job recovery, and optional TRIM/Deallocate cleanup. It is available as a standard Windows installer or portable standalone application.
The published plans make Blackwire accessible for personal use. Free is a one-time $0 plan with no activation required, core erase, verification, recovery, and safety features, and support for up to 2 drives at once. Home Pro costs $9.99 one time and adds full-speed software overwrite, up to 3 drives at once, and transferable activation. Both are restricted to personal and noncommercial use. Business costs $39.99 one time and is the relevant tier for commercial work, with unlimited supported parallel drives, PDF and HTML certificates, evidence, verification, and batch reports, plus company branding, optional PFX signing, and priority support.
Its strongest distinction is the combination of sanitization controls and recovery safeguards. Drive-identity revalidation and protected-disk blocking help control which drives are targeted, while authenticated checkpoints and interrupted-job recovery address jobs that do not finish in one uninterrupted run. Per-drive progress tracking supports parallel execution, and Business evidence files and certificates give technicians and organizations a clearer reporting workflow. Choose Blackwire for Windows-based wiping where recovery controls and verification matter, especially at a low one-time cost. Organizations needing commercial use or formal evidence should choose Business; users needing another operating system should look elsewhere.
