Bitvise SSH Server is a Windows-based, self-hosted server for secure file transfer, terminal access, and network tunneling. It supports SFTP, SCP, and FTP over TLS, making it suitable for administrators managing Windows and virtual accounts, controlled file access, and automated transfer workflows. The Personal Edition is available for non-commercial personal use, while other users can evaluate the product for 30 days before choosing a commercial license.

The licensing model is built around one-time purchases. The per-installation option costs $99.95 and includes a permanent right to use the software under the license terms, plus 12 months of upgrade access. A 25-Installation License costs $2,000 one-time. Site, Area, Worldwide Internal Use, Unlimited Project, and Large Worldwide Internal and External Use licenses cost $10,000, $15,000, $25,000, $25,000, and $40,000 respectively. The published plans show a broad range for organizations managing more than one Windows installation.

Operationally, Bitvise provides virtual filesystem restrictions and mount points, per-user and per-group quotas, bandwidth limits, time-based one-time-password authentication, XML and Windows Event Log activity logging, and remote administration through the Bitvise SSH Client control panel. BssCfg and PowerShell support scriptable configuration, while scheduled and log-triggered tasks can send email notifications. Integrations include Windows accounts, Active Directory, Kerberos 5, Git, and PowerShell. Choose Bitvise when Windows deployment, protocol coverage, and administrative controls are priorities. Organizations that require web administration or a platform beyond Windows should consider an alternative.
