Billbooks is cloud invoicing software for freelancers, small businesses, agencies, and growing teams. It creates and sends invoices and quotes, supports recurring billing, and adds automatic payment reminders, online payment links, multi-currency invoicing, expenses, projects, and reporting. Its broader feature set also includes OCR invoice and business-card scanning, digital signatures, QR payment codes, and a client portal. Organizations looking beyond basic invoice creation will find coverage for several parts of the billing workflow.
Pricing is organized by organization and billed monthly. The Trial plan is free for 30 days with no credit card required. Basic costs $7.95 per organization per month and is positioned for freelancers, while Standard costs $14.95 per organization per month for small businesses. Professional costs $29.95 per organization per month and adds Xero and Zapier integrations for growing teams. The Custom plan adds API integration, a self-hosted option, and custom workflows and reporting. The published pricing also displays a yearly billing option with a 10% saving. There is no free plan after the trial, so ongoing use requires a paid tier.
Billbooks fits organizations that need wide platform coverage: web, Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, API, and self-hosted options are available. Integrations include Xero, QuickBooks Online, Zapier, Stripe, PayPal, Braintree, and Authorize.Net. The main trade-off is breadth over simplicity: smaller users seeking only straightforward invoicing may not need its reporting, scanning, payment, and workflow features, while organizations needing API access or self-hosting must choose Custom. Choose Billbooks for a broad billing and payment toolkit; consider a narrower invoicing service if those capabilities are unnecessary.
