Our verdict on BIG Launcher
BIG Launcher replaces Android’s standard home screen with large, readable buttons and simplified navigation. It is designed for seniors and people with low vision or blindness, motor difficulties or cognitive impairments, as well as anyone seeking a simpler phone interface. The launcher is also available on Android tablets. Its customizable screens and app list make it a fit for people who want fewer, more accessible ways to reach everyday phone functions, rather than a conventional home screen focused on compact icons.
The standout feature is the control over button assignments and screen layouts. Users can assign buttons to apps, contacts, calls, SMS, websites, widgets or SOS, and choose layouts including 3×4, 3×3, 2×4, 2×2 and 1×1. Icons can come from internal options, icon packs, themes or apps, and swipe navigation between screens is configurable. The Applications list includes app-name search, optional substring search and the ability to hide selected apps. An SOS button can send GPS coordinates by SMS. These options support a simplified interface without limiting every button to launching an app.
BIG Launcher has a free plan, while the published full-version price is a one-time $11.99 lifetime license. The paid version unlocks customization of all home-screen buttons, unlimited additional screens and password protection for settings. The SOS feature and configurable controls may suit users who need quick access to specific actions; people seeking a standard launcher across multiple platforms should look elsewhere, since BIG Launcher runs on Android. Companion BIG Phone and BIG SMS apps are separate products with separate licenses, so the launcher alone does not include them.
