Our verdict on bergfex: Hiking & Tracking
bergfex: Hiking & Tracking is a mobile app for browsing, planning and recording hikes and other outdoor tours. Its catalog of more than 500,000 Alpine hiking tours, route descriptions and custom tour planning make it a fit for hikers who want to explore routes or map a tour with start, end and intermediate points. GPS navigation and position tracking support following a route, while activity recording captures route, distance, altitude and speed. The app is available on iOS and Android, with a free version and paid PRO plans.
Route discovery and activity tools form the app’s central appeal. Users can browse worldwide map material, save highlights and photos to recorded activities, and share routes in the app or as GPX files. Garmin Connect and Polar Flow integrations import activities, a useful fit for people who already keep activity records in those services. This combination suits hikers who value a large Alpine route catalog and ways to record and share outings; it is less tailored to buyers looking chiefly for a desktop mapping tool.
Offline map downloads are reserved for PRO, alongside higher map zoom, satellite and official hiking maps, slope inclination visualization and ad-free use. According to the vendor’s pricing page, PRO costs €3 per month or €35.99 with annual billing. The free version offers a way to browse and plan without those PRO additions, but hikers who need offline maps should budget for a paid plan. Choose bergfex for Alpine route browsing, planning and activity tracking; consider alternatives if offline access must be free or desktop use is central.
