Bare Browser is an open-source Chromium browser for Android, aimed at people who want desktop-style extensions and control over Google integrations on a phone. It includes the full uBlock Origin extension, which can be removed, and supports other desktop browser extensions. That makes it a fit for Android users who want extension-based ad blocking and customization in a mobile browser. It is distributed as alpha APK releases for Android 10 or newer on 32-bit or 64-bit ARM devices.

Extension support is the defining feature: an extensions toolbar allows pinning, and custom search-engine management adds another way to tailor browsing. Bare also provides background video and audio playback, media saving from supported webpages, and support for external download managers. Links can stay inside the browser instead of opening apps. Dark theme and optional site darkening are available. These features give the browser a broader media and customization focus than a minimal browsing app, while the included blocker can be removed if it is not wanted.

Bare’s privacy controls include removal of Google telemetry, sign-in prompts, Firebase registration, and AI surfaces. It is still alpha software, however, and official distribution is through APK releases; Google Play and F-Droid availability is forthcoming. The documented device scope is Android 10 or newer on ARM, so it is not a choice for desktop or iOS users. Pick Bare if extensions, uBlock Origin, and reduced Google integration matter more than a finished release channel. Those who want an established store installation or cross-device sync should look elsewhere.
