Our verdict on BardCanvas
BardCanvas is an open-source content management system and web application engine for single-author and multi-author blogs, forums, and social networks. It suits communities that want publishing alongside user accounts, comments, media galleries, and social interaction. The platform is available on the web, Linux, iOS, Android, and self-hosted deployments. Its GPLv3 base packages can be modified, while developers can extend the system with modules and templates.
The platform’s main strength is breadth within a community publishing stack. Alongside post publishing and comments, BardCanvas provides user-level management, image and video galleries, category management, widgets, search, and automated updates through cron jobs. Its listed integrations include YouTube, Giphy, Twitter Cards, ShareThis, Google, Telegram, Twitch, and LinkedIn. Blog analytics are also included in the category specifications, giving publishers a measurement layer alongside the content tools.
