Azure App Configuration is a managed cloud service for storing and retrieving application parameters and settings. Development teams can centralize hosted configuration for Azure applications, organize values with labels, and restore key-values from revision history. Its feature-management capabilities cover switches, experiments, percentage-based rollouts, staged releases, targeting by users, groups, or custom attributes, and scheduled activation or deactivation. SDK support lets applications manage settings and evaluate flags at runtime. The service fits small, mid-market, and enterprise teams that want governed application settings in Azure.

Four tiers define capacity and request allowances. Free includes 10 MB of storage per resource, 1,000 requests per day, and seven-day revision history. Developer raises storage to 500 MB and allows 6,000 requests per hour while retaining seven-day history. Standard provides 1 GB, 30,000 requests per hour, 30-day history, and available geo-replication. Premium provides 4 GB, no hourly request quota limit, 30-day history, and one included replica. Paid usage is billed per store per day, with request overages, so teams should match tier capacity and traffic patterns to their deployment needs.

The service is available through web and API interfaces and integrates with Application Insights. RBAC, audit and HTTP request resource logs, feature-evaluation telemetry, and two-factor compliance support operational governance. Azure teams that need centralized settings, controlled runtime changes, and revision recovery should consider it. Its cloud-only deployment is less suitable for organizations requiring on-premises hosting, while teams seeking integrations beyond Application Insights or support channels beyond documentation may prefer a broader ecosystem. The Free tier offers a way to start with modest storage and request needs before moving to paid capacity.
