AWS Serverless Java Container review
A Java adapter for running supported web frameworks on AWS Lambda.

AWS Serverless Java Container is a Java library for running applications built with frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, Jersey, Struts, and Spark in AWS Lambda. It is aimed at Java teams that want to run an existing web application in Lambda rather than replace its framework. Acting as a servlet container, it translates incoming Lambda and API Gateway events into request objects the framework can handle, then converts framework responses into Lambda-compatible responses.
Its main value is the bridge between framework-style applications and AWS request handling. The library supports API Gateway proxy integration models, Lambda Function URLs, HTTP API v2 proxy handlers, POJO handlers, and stream handlers. It can also be used with an AWS Application Load Balancer. Async framework initialization options and configuration for request logging and custom domains add controls relevant to running framework applications in this environment. Repository quick starts and sample applications include deployment templates, giving teams concrete starting points for supported frameworks.
This is open-source software with a free plan, and its deployment model is cloud functions on AWS. It does not aim to provide the broader application development and deployment scope of a full serverless framework; its specialization is adapting Java web frameworks to Lambda and related AWS entry points. Teams already committed to AWS and maintaining a supported Java framework are the clearest fit. Teams seeking a multi-cloud deployment tool, Kubernetes support, or an end-to-end application development framework should consider a broader alternative.
