Avast Driver Updater review
A security-focused driver updater with backups, rollback, and malware checks.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
Avast Driver Updater scans Windows PCs for outdated, corrupt, vulnerable, or missing drivers, then helps install updated versions from verified manufacturer installers. It is designed for individual Windows users maintaining hardware such as graphics cards, printers, scanners, webcams, keyboards, routers, and audio devices. The product supports Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, and Windows 7 SP1 or later, and the published plan covers one Windows PC.
Security and recovery features are central to the product. Avast Driver Updater checks drivers for malware before installation, creates a Windows system restore point before updates, and backs up existing drivers. If an update causes a problem, users can restore previously updated driver versions. Selective driver installation adds control over which updates are applied, while troubleshooting covers printer, keyboard, touchpad, Bluetooth, and USB driver issues. Automatic hardware scans run every seven days, reducing the need to start scans manually.
The published plan is Avast Driver Updater at $43.99 USD per device per year, billed annually. There is no free plan, but the product includes a 30-day trial without a credit card. That makes it a fit for individual Windows users who value verified installers, malware checks, scheduled scanning, and recovery options more than a no-cost updater. The one-device limit and Windows-only scope are important boundaries: households managing multiple PCs or users seeking broader platform coverage should choose a different driver-updating approach. Users who only need occasional manual updates may also find the subscription unnecessary.
