AutoMQ is a Kafka-compatible event streaming platform for data engineering, analytics, observability, and application-integration teams operating Kafka-based workloads. It supports standard Kafka clients and can run as a managed BYOC service in a customer's cloud account or as self-managed software for on-premises and private-cloud environments. Its architecture replaces Kafka's local storage layer with S3-compatible object storage, using stateless brokers to support elastic scaling and partition rebalancing.

According to the vendor's pricing page, the Pro plan costs $300 per month and includes up to 1,024 MiB/sec ingress throughput, up to 20,000 partitions, a 99.95% SLA, Multi-AZ deployment, auto-scaling, and business-hours support. Enterprise adds unlimited ingress throughput, unlimited partitions, unlimited retention, a 99.99% SLA, Multi-AZ deployment, and 24/7 premium support. The platform also connects with Kafka Connect, Debezium, JDBC, S3, Elasticsearch, Prometheus, Amazon CloudWatch, Apache Flink, Apache Spark, ksqlDB, schema registries, Apache Iceberg, and AWS Glue. Managed Kafka Connect supports custom plugins, while migration tooling supports zero-downtime Kafka migration and replication.

Security and operational controls make AutoMQ a fit for organizations that need more than basic streaming infrastructure. TLS/mTLS, Kafka ACLs, RBAC, and SAML SSO support enterprise access requirements, while Prometheus and CloudWatch integrations support monitoring. Table Topics connect Kafka workloads with Iceberg ingestion, and the platform lists exactly-once delivery alongside support for Java, C/C++, Go, Python, and NodeJS clients. Choose AutoMQ when Kafka compatibility, cloud-based storage, scaling, and enterprise controls justify the entry price. Smaller teams, cost-sensitive projects, or buyers seeking a free plan should consider another platform.
