Auslogics Disk Defrag review
A Windows HDD defragmenter with analysis, scheduling, and boot-time tools.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
Auslogics Disk Defrag is a Windows utility for analyzing, defragmenting, and optimizing hard disk drives. It is aimed at users who want more control than basic manual defragmentation, including scheduled jobs, free-space consolidation, individual file or folder processing, and offline handling of locked system files. The product supports Windows 7 through Windows 11 and is available in Free and Pro editions.
The Free plan provides disk analysis and basic defragmentation, while the published feature set also includes fragmentation reporting, free-space consolidation, file-level jobs, boot-time defragmentation, portable version creation, and command-line support. Pro adds a 3 PC license, HDD optimization, disk error checking and repair, and scheduled automatic defragmentation. That split makes the free edition suitable for occasional maintenance, while Pro is intended for users who need recurring automation or repair features.
Its strongest fit is a Windows environment built around HDDs and users who value configurable maintenance options. The narrow drive focus is also its main boundary: Auslogics states that Disk Defrag is specifically for HDDs, and it does not defragment SSDs, although it detects them. Choose it for HDD analysis, defragmentation, scheduling, boot-time processing, and command-line control on Windows. Users seeking SSD defragmentation or support beyond Windows should choose a different type of disk utility.
