Aura.SqlQuery review
A PHP library for composing parameterized SQL across four database dialects.

Aura.SqlQuery is an open-source PHP library for constructing SQL statements without binding query building to a particular database connection library. It provides query objects for SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE operations, and supports MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite and Microsoft SQL Server. PHP developers who want to compose parameterized statements separately from database access are its clearest fit; it is not a standalone database client or query runner.
Its core workflow is to generate a statement and its bound values separately, then pass both to a chosen connection library such as PDO. Placeholders and bound values help keep query construction distinct from the values supplied at execution time, and bulk inserts can be built with multiple rows. The library also includes dialect-specific methods: MySQL and SQLite query methods, PostgreSQL RETURNING methods, and SQL Server LIMIT and OFFSET translation. This breadth is useful when an application targets multiple SQL dialects, though the actual execution remains outside Aura.SqlQuery.
The package is distributed as open-source software, has a free plan, and is installed through Composer. It is self-hosted and supports Linux, macOS and Windows. There is no asynchronous query execution, so teams seeking a library that manages database connections or runs queries asynchronously should look elsewhere. Community support is the listed support channel. Choose Aura.SqlQuery when the need is focused SQL construction in PHP and the application already has, or will provide, its own connection layer; choose a more execution-oriented tool if query running and connection management are part of the requirement.
Aura.SqlQuery pros and cons
- Where it wins
- Builds SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE statements with bound values
- Supports bulk inserts and database-specific query methods
- Separates generated SQL and bound values from connection-library execution
- Where it doesn't
- Does not execute statements; applications need a separate connection library
- Support is community-based
- No asynchronous query execution
