Our verdict on AthTek Voice Changer for Skype
AthTek Voice Changer for Skype is a Windows desktop application for people who want to alter microphone pitch during Skype calls. Its preset options include male-to-female effects, and users can preview altered speech before calling. It also sends sound-emotion effects to Skype contacts, adds background music, and automatically records calls with the changed voice. The focus is practical call-time voice alteration rather than a broad library of character voices, making it a fit for Skype users who need basic pitch changes on a Windows computer.
The published plans show two $29.95 one-time lifetime licenses. ID-License is associated with a specified Skype account; PC-License is associated with a specified computer and supports multiple Skype accounts on that computer. Both remove trial restrictions, and a limited free trial is available. The distinction matters if several Skype accounts share one PC: the PC-License covers that situation, while the ID-License follows a specified account. Buyers should choose based on how they expect to use Skype rather than on different feature tiers, since both options share the same listed price.
Its narrow Skype integration is also its main constraint. Call-time pitch alteration, music, sound effects, and recording are useful within that specific setup, with recordings saved to a selected computer folder. The vendor documents compatibility with older Skype versions and Windows 2000 through Windows 8 system requirements, so prospective buyers should consider that documented environment before choosing it. Email and documentation are listed support channels, alongside a 30-day refund period. Pick AthTek for Skype-focused pitch alteration on Windows; choose another product if you need character voices or a voice changer for other calling platforms.
