Our verdict on Art Set 4
Art Set 4 is an iPad digital painting and drawing app from LOFOPI, aimed at artists who want digital tools modeled on traditional media. Its free plan includes oil paint, watercolor, oil pastel, pencil, marker, wax crayon, and blender tools, along with a color wheel, editable palette, photo import, PSD export, and time-lapse recording. Apple Pencil support, sensitivity features, and high-resolution canvases make it suited to detailed work on compatible Apple devices.
The free plan provides a substantial starting set, while Unlock All expands the app with 200 advanced brushes, flood fill, symmetry, shape primitives, and pixel art. It also adds layer masks, blend modes, alpha lock, and advanced brush adjustments. The listed starting price is 12.99, and the purchase is a one-time in-app unlock. For artists comparing digital painting tools, the main pricing distinction is clear: the free tier covers core traditional-media tools, while the paid tier adds broader brush control and more structured editing features.
Art Set 4 fits an Apple-centered workflow through iOS Files, iTunes File Sharing, iOS Pasteboard, and AirDrop. Its feature set extends beyond basic sketching with fluid watercolor simulation, 3D paint, configurable DPI and canvas dimensions, Display P3 Wide Color, HSB/RGB controls, transformations, and customizable brush dynamics. The trade-off is platform scope: it is designed for iOS rather than a cross-platform setup. Choose it if realistic media simulation and iPad painting are the priority; consider an alternative if desktop access or a wider device ecosystem is essential.
