Arq Backup is desktop file backup software for macOS and Windows. It is aimed at individuals and organizations that want encrypted copies of selected files stored across cloud accounts, NAS devices, attached disks, SFTP destinations, or network shares. Backups include filesystem snapshots, point-in-time history, versioning, compression, deduplication, and block-level incremental backup. Individual files can be restored through the app’s Restore button or by drag and drop.
The published plans separate the application from storage. Arq 7 costs $59.99 one-time per computer and includes the app, use with customer-selected storage, Mac or PC support, and 12 months of updates. Arq Premium costs $6.99 per month and adds the Arq 7 app, 1 TB of cloud storage, secure web access, and support for up to 5 computers. Arq Premium Annual is also listed with the app, 1 TB of cloud storage, secure web access, and support for up to 5 computers. A 30-day free trial is available. Storage integrations include Amazon S3, Backblaze B2, Google Cloud Storage, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, SharePoint, Wasabi, Minio, DigitalOcean Spaces, SFTP, NAS, SMB network shares, and external disks.
Arq Backup’s strongest fit is for buyers who care about controlling storage location while retaining encrypted, historical file recovery. Configurable schedules, bandwidth limits, retention, exclusions, and multiple backup destinations give the product a practical focus for managing file protection across several targets. Point-in-time recovery also provides a clear response to accidental changes and ransomware scenarios. Choose it when file-level backup on Mac or Windows meets your needs and you are comfortable selecting storage or paying for Arq Premium. Look elsewhere if you need mobile coverage, small-business server backup, or protection beyond desktop files.
