A private home photo vault with family sharing, messaging, and encrypted backups.

ArkCentral is a self-hosted system for storing photos, videos, files, and messages on a private device kept in the home. It is designed for families that want original-quality photo and video backup, shared albums, family file access, and private communication without a recurring storage subscription. Each device supports up to 10 family members, with iPhone, iPad, and Mac apps for access across Apple devices.
The pricing is hardware-focused and paid upfront. The Ark 1.0 costs $499 one-time and is described as a previous-generation device for approximately 85,000 photos. The $999 The Ark 2.0 Package adds an encrypted backup disk, an extended 3-year hardware warranty, and 24/7 direct support. At $1,399 one-time, The Ark 2.0 Premium Package includes those additions plus beta access to new features and a founder onboarding call. The paid tiers therefore add backup, warranty, support, and onboarding benefits rather than recurring storage allowances.
ArkCentral’s standout strength is the combination of private local storage with automatic saving of shared photos and videos, shared family albums and drive, end-to-end encrypted messaging, and remote access through an encrypted connection. Selected packages add an encrypted backup disk, extending the home-based storage approach. It suits families prioritizing private ownership and a shared household archive. Buyers seeking a conventional cloud storage subscription, broader platform coverage, or a lower upfront commitment should consider an alternative. Private local AI photo search is described as coming soon.
